Ask anyone in South-East Vancouver for directions and there’s a good chance they’ll start with “okay, so you know Knight and 41st?” It’s one of those corners everybody passes through: buses rumbling in four directions, traffic heading for the Knight Street Bridge, and a strip of shops and restaurants that locals swear by. Turns out there are plenty of reasons to stop instead of just driving through, especially now that the leaves are turning and the rain has officially moved back in.
Here’s our local guide to things to do near Knight and 41st this fall: where to eat, where to wander, how to get around, and where to find us.
Where Exactly Are We Talking About?
Knight and 41st sits right where Victoria-Fraserview, Kensington-Cedar Cottage, Sunset and Killarney all bump into each other. Head north up Knight and you’re climbing into Kensington, where the street crests a ridge with one of the best surprise views of the North Shore mountains in the city. Head south and you’re rolling toward Marine Drive and the bridge. Go east or west along 41st and you’ve got one of the busiest bus corridors in the region.

Eat Like a Local: Food Spots Near Knight and 41st
Duffin’s Donuts (1391 East 41st Avenue) is basically a Vancouver landmark at this point. The family-run shop has been serving the neighbourhood for more than four decades, and the menu is gloriously unhinged in the best way: classic donuts, fried chicken, banh mi, tortas, bubble tea and a lot more. It’s open 6am to midnight on weekdays and around the clock on weekends, which makes it the official headquarters of late-night cravings on this side of town.
Shelly’s Kitchen & Pizza (1410 East 41st Avenue) is a fully vegetarian Indian spot doing chole bhature, momos, chaat and paneer-loaded pizzas. It’s open until 1am, so it’s another solid pick when the dinner plan falls apart at 10pm.
East Side Craft House (1445 East 41st Avenue) is a true neighbourhood pub. It’s family owned, it was the Elephant Walk Pub before 2012, and it now pours 16 taps from Vancouver breweries. Saturday trivia nights are a big deal, and it’s an easy spot to catch the game with friends on a soggy Sunday.
Want a proper weekend breakfast? Ride the 22 up Knight to Knight Street Café (3911 Knight Street, just south of Kingsway). They’ve been doing homestyle all-day breakfast, sandwiches and homemade soups since 2016, 8am to 3pm, seven days a week.
Fresh-cut energy: Nights Faded, a barbershop and tattoo studio at 1402 East 41st Avenue, is right on the strip if fall has you craving a new look.
Parks and Fresh Air (Bring a Rain Jacket)
Kensington Park (5175 Dumfries Street, by Knight and East 37th) is under a 10-minute walk north of the corner and it’s the neighbourhood’s backyard. The fields open up to big views of the North Shore mountains, and on a crisp fall afternoon with the peaks dusted white, it’s genuinely postcard-level. The park is also home to the Kensington Skateboard Park, a 6,000-square-foot concrete pool-style bowl that’s fun to watch even if your board days are behind you.

Memorial South Park (5955 Ross Street at East 41st) is roughly a 10-minute walk west. At over 13 hectares, it has a tree-lined entrance leading to the war memorial the park is named for, a lit six-lane running track, tennis and pickleball courts, and a pond where ducks hang out. With Remembrance Day coming up on November 11, the memorial is worth a quiet visit. Check the Vancouver Park Board’s Memorial South Park page for facilities.
Got a dog? Kingcrest Park (4150 Knight Street at East 26th) is a quick ride up the 22, with an off-leash area, curving paths and a shady grove of linden trees that’s perfect for a slow lap.
When It’s Pouring: Rainy-Day Moves
This is Vancouver in late October, so let’s be real about the weather. When the sky opens up, Kensington Community Centre (also at 5175 Dumfries Street) has a small indoor pool with a whirlpool and sauna, plus a fitness centre, pottery studio and dance studio. The City of Vancouver’s Kensington Community Centre page has the current pool schedule and drop-in times.
