Some people mark the change of seasons with pumpkin spice. Around Knight and 41st, plenty of us mark it with a fresh cut. The rain is back, the toques are coming out, and a sharp fade or a new colour is the easiest style upgrade there is. If you’re looking for a barbershop on the Knight Street side of Vancouver, this one’s for you.
Here’s our “fresh cut” guide to the neighbourhood: where to get your hair (or your next tattoo) sorted, where to eat before and after, and how to turn one appointment into a proper day out in South-East Vancouver.
Meet Nights Faded: Barbershop and Tattoo Studio on East 41st
Nights Faded sits at 1402 East 41st Avenue, right on the strip of shops near the corner of Knight and 41st. It’s a two-in-one spot that pairs barbering with tattoo artistry, and their tagline sums up the vibe nicely: “where style meets artistry.”
On the hair side, the team does tailored haircuts, from sharp men’s cuts and beard trims to sleek women’s styles. They also handle colour and styling, with everything from root touch-ups and all-over colour to balayage and foil highlights. Whether you want a clean-up before a big weekend or a full fall reset, it’s all under one roof.

Tattoos With Real Range
The tattoo side of Nights Faded is where things get interesting. The studio offers custom tattoos for adults, from delicate fine line and minimalist pieces to bold neo-traditional and detailed realism. Their tattoo artist profiles are worth a scroll before you book. The roster covers fine line and floral work, black and grey realism, anime-inspired pieces, portraits and cover-ups, so you can match your idea to the artist whose style fits it best.
Thinking about your first piece? Start with a reference or two, have a rough idea of size and placement, and reach out ahead of time. Custom work takes planning, and the best tattoos usually start with a good conversation.

Booking Tips for Your Fresh Cut
A little planning goes a long way, especially on busy weekends:
- Check the hours. Nights Faded lists general shop hours of Monday 2pm to 7pm, Tuesday to Friday 11am to 7pm, Saturday 11am to 6pm and Sunday 12pm to 5pm. They note that hours can vary with each barber’s or artist’s schedule.
- Book ahead. The website has a Book Now option, and you can also reach the shop by phone at 604-423-9724, by email, or through their Instagram, @nightsfaded.
- Bring inspo. A couple of photos of the cut or colour you want saves everyone time and gets you closer to the look in your head.
- Leave buffer time. Colour services and tattoos take longer than a quick trim, so don’t squeeze them between other plans.
Make a Day of It Around Knight and 41st
The best part of getting a cut in this neighbourhood is everything around it. You can easily build a whole afternoon within a few blocks, and our Knight and 41st fall guide has even more ideas.
Fuel up first. Duffin’s Donuts (1391 East 41st Avenue) has been a local institution for more than four decades. The menu goes way beyond donuts, with fried chicken, banh mi and bubble tea, and it’s open 6am to midnight on weekdays and around the clock on weekends. Grabbing a box for the crew is never a bad call.

Do a proper breakfast. If your appointment is in the afternoon, start the day at Knight Street Café (3911 Knight Street, just south of Kingsway). It’s been serving homestyle all-day breakfast, sandwiches and homemade soups since 2016, from 8am to 3pm every day. The 22 Knight bus runs straight down Knight Street, so getting between the café and 41st is easy. Check the TransLink 22 Knight route for times.
Show off the new look. East Side Craft House (1445 East 41st Avenue) is a family-owned neighbourhood pub with 16 taps from Vancouver breweries and a Saturday trivia night locals love. A fresh fade and a trivia win in the same day? That’s a good Saturday.
Swing By Our Knight Street Store
